Anadarko Petroleum and Noble Energy report daily production in Colorado’s Weld County of nearly 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. 56 oil rigs operate in the county – just 15 minutes from my house.

This looks like a triple environmental win – recycled plastic material stops the cutting of trees and the use of nasty chemicals to make the wood long-lasting in the environment. “Due to strict regulations in certain states, it has become increasingly difficult and costly to dispose creosote soaked wood after its useful life, an issue not faced when installing ECOTRAX ties, given that they are 100% recyclable”.

I found this press release from PVC4Pipes very useful. It highlights the 18 papers addressing PVC pipe systems at the recent Plastic Pipes XVII Conference and exhibition in Chicago. Here's a nice little introduction to the global market for pallets including the portion that come from recycled plastics. The full report costs a bundle but the intro told me that wood pallets are still greater than 80% of the material used.

You will probably want to read the press release from Invista on their Nylon 6,6 Raptor (TM) pipe for oilfield services reported to be rated up to pressures of 500 psi. An ASTM standard is in progress.
