SGN Continues to Work On Large Plastic Gas Pipe Replacement
SGN has been working on a large gas pipe beneath a busy street in East Grinstead (south of London). The hope is that this new plastic pipe will be more sustainable since it will require less repairs and consequently, less closures on a busy road. The construction is expected to last another 5 weeks, but access other than through traffic is still permitted and available to the public.

PPI Pushes for Recycled Underground Storm Water Pipe Systems
PPI recently applauded the formation of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste and made remarks about how far the industry has come in terms of recycling and sustainability. PPI also touches on the topic of HDPE and how it is known for having fantastic recycling rates and improving overall sustainability for the world. In fact, HDPE can sometimes be made using 40% recycled materials. PPI “processes 25% of all post-consumer high-density polyethylene bottles and converts them into products used in underground infrastructure.” Their new goal is to work with research firms and the American Association of Highway Transportation Officials to make underground storm water pipe using recycled materials.
