Class Action on ABS Pipe
This website gives a very brief discussion of the case specifics leading to a $70 million settlement on ABS plumbing and drain, waste, and vent pipe that were ruled to be defective. Several ABS pipe manufacturers were alleged to have used unsuitable resin resulting in circumferential cracking at the glue line from solvent cementing of pipe to socket fittings. In 1998, California courts found against the pipe manufacturers resulting in settlements of approximately $70 million.
